Trekking in eastern Nepal includes an eastern approach
to Everest, the Makalu Base camp and the Kanchenjunga.
The eastern region of Nepal is remote. So, it is not so
popular like other parts but this region have endless
variety of places to explore, hiking climbing and village
excursion tour. Eastern region have the ethnic cast like
Rai, Tamang, Sherpa, Limbu etc having their own culture.
The places like Basantapur, Dhankuta, Hile, Khandbari
and Bhojpur are prosperous and clean. This area is also
famous for tea growing area, Ilam tea is famous in Nepal
and India belongs to this region. To make trips to eastern
mountains, either domestic flight or long journey by bus
is necessary. The main domestic airports are Tumlingtar,
Lamidada and Taplejung which have direct connection with
Katmandu.
Kanchanjunga at 8598 m is the world’s third-highest
mountain lies on the border of Sikkim and Nepal. The
main attraction of this area are panoramic views of
eastern mountains, Kumbakarna, Jannu Peak, Tent Peak,
Givigela Chule, Chang Himal, Pathibhara, Olangchumgola
(Newly opened), Pumori, Arun valley etc. This area has
numbers of flora and fauna. The trekking starting points
are Taplejung, Basantapur, Hile, Chatra, Lukla and Lamidada.
If a person want to visit on low altitude Mayam dada
trek will be suitable for those persons.

| Taking domestic
flight to Tumlingtar make a long walk to the Arun Kosi.
Start climbing to a high pass into remote Barun valley.
Having the experience of high altitude, medicine is needed.
The trek starts form Tumlingtar – Khandbari (1030m),
Chichila (1830m), Num (1510m), Tashigon (3600m), Merek
(4570m), Shersong (4650m), Makalu Base Camp (5250m). Then
we return back to Tumlingtar airport, take flight to Kathmandu
or Biratnagar. If we have days, we can visit Koshi Tappu
for Bird watching. |
KANCHANJUNGA TREKS (Basantapur to Kanchanjunga North): |

This trek
starts from Basantapur (2200m) fly to Biratnager and take
bus to Basantapur or Direct take long journey trip from
Katmandu. We can stop for 15 minute in Bhadetar which
is view point for Dharan, Biratnager and Terai settlements.
The views of mountains in this region are memorable one
because this is a most remote area and Kanchanjunga is
third-highest mountain in the world.
The trek starts to Chauki(2700m)-Gupa pokhari(2930m)-Nesum(1620m)-Thumma(1100m_-Gunsa(3430m)-Khambachen(4040m)-Lhonak(4790m)-Pangpema(5140m)-Khambachen(4000m)-Linkhim-Suketar.
We can direct fly to Kathmandu from Suketar. |

(1690) – Omjekhola (2340m) – Torontan (2990m)
– Tseram (3870m) – Ramche (4620m) –
Yalung Glacier (4800m) then return back to Suketar and
fly back to Kathmandu. |

trek starts from Lukla – Puiyan (2730) – Pangum

– Sanam (2850m) – Phedi (1680m) – Dhubidanda
(760m) – Chawabesi (280m) – Khare (250m) –
Mangmaya Khola (200m) and ends at Hile (1850m). Then we
can drive to Katmandu from Hile. |
